Big Bang Science Day

What a day we have had! Space Odyssey in the dome, the oohs and ahhs of watching the stars and the space station. We visited the exhibition hall with displays of robotic football,  Dartmoor Zoo animals, and many other science and technology stalls. We then divided into two workshops - Horrible Science and Seeing the Light. After a quick lunch, we finished off with The Science of Movie Effects.. We felt the shock wave of a loud bang, we have never felt anything like it. we saw the science of special affects and stunts. Thank you to Great Torrington School for hosting this.

What will happen to Macbeth?

Today we predicted what was going to happen to Macbeth at the end of the play. Some suggested he is killed by Lady Macbeth, others decided that Macduff would finish him off, some thought that the witches would be involved somehow. We all decided it wasn't going to end happily! We then watched the animated tales version of the story from beginning to end, the children were quoting many of the words especially those of the witches.
We have all thoroughly enjoyed studying this fantastic story.

PHSE - Peer pressure

Today we have been roleplaying situations which may arise in the next few years for the children. They suggested scenarios such as being offered cigarettes, alcohol, persuaded to shoplift or steal or to bully another child. We practised ways of avoiding or getting out of these situations.

Separating Mixtures- Science and Macbeth

Today we carried out a science investigation based on the challenge below
